about

I wrote and recorded this EP in my bedroom when i first left home.
I was nineteen and living outside the safety net of my mother and father for the first time. There was myself and seven other people who I had never met before and one who I studied with.

My bedroom was on the bottom floor of the house; a rickety old place with two lounges, nine bedrooms and numerous D.I.Y extensions.
there were doors that opened over stairways, different carpet and paint in each room, thin walls that moved when you pushed them, an odd room with a dirt floor opposite mine and a lack of insulation that led to a consistent layer of frost on every window.

During the day I would search the room with the dirt floor for things that I could use for percussion. At night i would take down the blanket that hung in front of my curtain-less windows, wrap myself up and record this music.

Casper’s sound remains firmly grounded within the streets of Christchurch, while also feeling right at home beneath it’s cloudy skies and barren hills. ... more
